Wherefore at daybreak the rooster crows هنگام سپیده دم خروس سحری Ever since man beneath the heavens did dwell تا زهره و مه در آسمان گشت پدید Till when shall I brood over whether I have or have not? تا کی غم آن خورم که دارم یا نه Those who embodied the ideals of knowledge and grace آنان که محيط فضل و آداب شدند The world saw no profit from my becoming از آمدنم نبود گردون را سود What is the profit of our coming and going? از آمدن و رفتن ما سودی کو Some contemplate the way of piety قومی متفکرند اندر ره دین Without wine, man's true essence, I cannot sustain من بی می ناب زیستن نتوانم 'Tis a goblet that earns the Mind's praise جامیست که عقل آفرین میزندش The answer to perpetuity neither you know nor I اسرار ازل را نه تو دانی و نه من It is said that the drunk and the lustful are bound for Hell گویند که دوزخی بود عاشق و مست From the tales of the travelers of this long track از جمله رفتگان این راه دراز This caravan of life marches onward steadfast این قافله عمر عجب میگذرد English translation forthcoming ای دوست بیا تا غم فردا نخوریم English translation forthcoming می نوش که عمر جاودانی این است English translation forthcoming یک چند بکودکی باستاد شدیم
